Contact a veterinarian or an emergency animal clinic immediately if your cat shows any of the following (this list is not exhaustive):
- Difficulty breathing, rapid breathing, or open-mouth breathing
- Sudden weakness or paralysis, especially of the back legs, or crying out in pain
- Straining to urinate, frequent unsuccessful trips to the litter box, or no urine at all
- Repeated vomiting, or vomiting with lethargy
- Collapse, seizures, or loss of consciousness
- Pale or bluish gums
- Not eating or drinking for more than 24 hours
- Suspected poisoning, or ingestion of a toxic plant, food, or medication
- Major injury, such as a fall, a road accident or a bite wound
